Before you go through all the links below, I want to explain my reasons for using Linux:
- It is a very stable OS not prone to crashes, viruses, spyware, or other attacks.
- It is available totally free in both cost and use.
- There is a huge amount of community support for new users and veterans alike.
- There are many useful programs available which can replace the Windows and Mac versions.
- It is what most of the big ISP are using for their web servers.
- It is constantly be development and improved upon.
- It runs on a wide range of hardware - old, new and future.
- One of my employers uses it to run their POS/accounting software, and I wanted to be more familiar with all aspects.
- It is bringing the benefits of computers to the third-world and developing countries.
- It is not Windows!
Here are some reasons not to use Linux:
- You require a special program that can only be run under another OS.
- You are looking for ways to spend more money than you have to.
- You like the challenges of living with computer crashes, viruses, spyware, and so on.
- You are too scared to try something other than what you are used to.
